When the power goes out, the house keeps running

A Generac standby generator sits outside your home and connects to your electrical system through an automatic transfer switch. When utility power drops, it starts on its own within seconds and carries your home until power returns. No cords, no refueling cans, no trip outside in a storm.

Cory Farrell Electric installs Generac standby systems for homes across Kingsland, Marble Falls, Granite Shoals, Horseshoe Bay, Burnet and Llano County. Lake properties, long panel runs and limestone are normal work here.

★★★★★
“I was nervous about managing this project remotely. Luckily, my first call for help was the right call. Cory took the information I provided and returned to me a plan that included options for generators, project timelines, and detailed installation guidance. I signed off on the plan and… I was able to be hands-off throughout the process.”

What your installation includes

  • On-site walkthrough

Cory looks at your home, your electrical service, where the generator can sit, and what you need running when the grid goes down. That is how the system gets sized correctly.

  • Itemized written quote

Equipment, transfer switch, labor, materials, permits and anything excluded, listed line by line. No surprises after you sign.

  • Generac standby generator and automatic transfer switch

Installed by Cory Farrell Electric. The transfer switch moves your home to generator power on its own and back again when utility power returns.

  • Fuel coordination

Your natural gas or propane provider makes the fuel connection. Your quote states exactly who handles it and what it costs.

  • Startup, testing and handover

We start the system, test it under load, register the warranty, and walk you through how it works before we leave.

What a standby generator costs

Most contractors will not put a number on their website. We will. A typical whole-home standby generator installation in the Hill Country runs around $13,500, and most land between $12,000 and $18,000 depending on the property.

Your number depends on the property. These move it the most:

  • Generator size, set by what you want running
  • Distance from your electrical panel to the generator pad
  • Ground conditions: soil, caliche or solid limestone
  • Transfer switch type, including service-entrance rated switches
  • Fuel source and the length of the gas line run

Generator questions, answered

What size generator do I need?

It depends on what you want running at the same time: air conditioning, well pump, kitchen, the whole house or the essentials. We size the system at the walkthrough based on your home and your priorities, not a rule of thumb.

Natural gas or propane?

Generac standby generators run on either. Your gas or propane provider handles the fuel connection, and your written quote spells out who does what and what it costs.

How long does installation take?

It depends on equipment availability, permitting and your fuel provider’s schedule. Your written quote includes the expected timeline so you can plan around it.

What maintenance does a standby generator need?

Regular maintenance keeps it ready. Plan on an annual service visit and follow the maintenance schedule in your Generac owner’s manual. We offer generator maintenance and annual service.

What does the warranty cover?

There are two separate warranties. Generac’s limited warranty covers the equipment; its length and coverage depend on the model, and we register it at startup. Cory Farrell Electric’s Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty covers our installation work. Your quote lists both in writing.

Can I finance my generator?

You can check monthly payment options through Acorn Finance, a marketplace of third-party lenders. Checking offers does not impact your credit score. Approval, rates and terms are set by the lender, and not everyone qualifies. You can request a walkthrough either way.

Need a portable generator connection instead? We also install interlock kits and inlets. Portable vs. standby
